Project Objectives:
The Abigroup Leighton Joint Venture (ALJV) was the design and construction contractor for the Westlink M7.
Westlink M7 is one of Sydney's major urban motorways and a part of Metroad 7 and the Sydney Orbital Network. It connects three Metroads: M5 at Prestons, M4 at Eastern Creek and M2 at Baulkham Hills. The Westlink M7 involved construction of 17 interchanges, more than 160 bridges and improvements to many significant local roads. As well as the obvious benefits to local and through traffic, this project included what is considered to be the longest combined pedestrian and cyclist path in Australia including bridges over arterial roads and waterways to provide nearly 40km for commuter cyclists and recreational use.
Our Role:
SLR (formerly Heggies) provided the ALJV with specialist acoustic design services to ensure that the project met the required quality acoustic objectives. We also provided the project with an Issues Management System, allowing the entire design team to manage and resolve what was the public's largest area of concern - noise impact.
